A Couples Session from Home to Sunset

Photos taken in & around Hickman, NE

Some of the best sessions come from keeping things simple and meaningful. This couples session in Hickman started right at home, where everything felt natural and comfortable from the beginning.

Starting at home always brings a relaxed energy. There’s no adjustment period, no pressure, just real moments in a familiar space. It’s an easy way to capture connection in a setting that already means something.

From there, we headed to Wagon Train Lake State Recreation Area to catch the last light of the day. The open space, water, and soft sunset tones created a completely different feel from the first part of the session.

To finish things off, we incorporated a classic truck, which added a unique element and gave the images a timeless, slightly nostalgic look. It was a simple addition, but it brought a lot of personality to the final set of photos.

Combining an in-home setting with an outdoor location is a great way to add variety to couples photography in Lincoln, Nebraska. It allows for both relaxed, personal moments and more scenic, open images, all within the same session.

Overall, my advice for family photography sessions is always the same — think of it more as spending time with your family doing an activity that you love, rather than a photo session. When people feel like they can be themselves, this is where the magic happens. When everyone feels comfortable, we easily create those perfectly candid photos. We all want photos that capture the personality of the people we love most and that is always my goal for your session.
