Sunset Couples Session at Chalco Hills, Omaha

Recently, I had the chance to spend a golden evening with the Ali couple at Chalco Hills Recreation Area in Omaha. This park is a gem for outdoor photography—full of variety, natural light, and peaceful spaces that let couples just be themselves. As a family and couples photographer based nearby in Lincoln, sessions like this remind me why I love what I do.
We started down by the water’s edge, where the soft reflections of the sky added a calm, romantic tone to the photos. The lake at Chalco always has a quiet magic at sunset, and the evening light wrapped everything in a warm glow.
From there, we explored the tall grass fields—one of my favorite parts of the park for those wide, cinematic shots. The grasses moved gently in the breeze, giving the images a soft, natural texture that brings a real sense of place and presence. The Alis were totally at ease here, which made for authentic, connected moments in front of the camera.
As the sun dipped lower, we wandered along the wooded trails, capturing in-between moments and those candid in-between looks that tell the real story of a relationship. Chalco’s trails are ideal for this—quiet, open, and bathed in light as evening sets in.
Whether you're planning engagement photos, a casual couples session, or even just want to celebrate a milestone together, Chalco Hills is one of Omaha’s best spots for a laid-back and scenic shoot. I always aim to keep sessions unhurried and rooted in presence—and this one was exactly that.
